Therapy Style
For me, therapy starts by viewing myself, my clients, and their support systems as a unified team. In my time as a provider, I’ve recognized that the most significant progress occurs when we work collaboratively and see our therapy work as a collaborative venture. My priority at the start of care is getting to know the whole person I’m working with, forming a connection that goes beyond surface-level symptoms or stressors. No person is equal to their difficulties, and with that, spending time getting to know the whole person is just as important to me as is understanding your struggle. We’ll work together to determine a course that feel’s both fulfilling and purposeful while working towards the goals you set.
Specialties
As an ERP-trained and specialized therapist, I empathize with the struggles and distress caused by anxiety and compulsive disorders. My training, which spanned over three years under expert professionals in addition to my overall 10 years in the field, has equipped me with a vast array of tools and techniques for effectively addressing these conditions.
Beyond treating anxiety, OCD and other compulsive disorders, my experience includes supervising therapists during exposure therapy and coaching families on how to help their loved ones living through this struggle. I’ll be the first to admit that this work can be incredibly challenging but deeply worthwhile. My goal is not only to treat these conditions but also to empower my clients to become experts in managing them. It's crucial to recognize that one does not need to be confined to the small corners of anxious thoughts and imprisoning rituals. Let's bring back the YOU that's bigger than any discomfort!
Not all individuals seek therapy for a specific issue or ailment. It's crucial to recognize that therapy is not solely beneficial during difficult times. It can serve as a valuable tool for self-discovery, skill acquisition, and exploring abstract concepts. In my experience working with individuals in a more generalist capacity, I employ an array of modalities based on my clients' needs and preferences. I would describe this approach as holistic self-exploration, it's like a big, beautiful canvas where we can brainstorm, learn and grow together.
Rates Explained
I made the decision early on to make Counseling with Carly a cash pay private practice. This choice has come from a place of my wanting to protect and maintain the consistency and flexibility needed within the therapy space. Unfortunately, it is common that insurance providers refuse and or dictate how much a person can receive in the form of care, despite proper documentation, symptoms or need.
In my 10+ years in the field, I’ve witnessed far too many people be denied care due to insurance acting in an unethical manner. To avoid this and maintain consistency in care, I chose to remain cash pay so that I can work my clients to find solutions to make care accessible and consistent. I’ve primarily been able to do this by maintaining rates lesser than most ERP specialized individuals as well utilizing a sliding scale system and out of network (OON) options.
To provide such access, I use a platform called Simple Practice which allows for virtual care as well as a client portal that gives access to invoices & superbills. A superbill is a receipt of service you can provide to your insurance for out of network (OON) benefits. Not all insurance providers offer OON but a vast majority do. If interested in taking this route, it is necessary that all prospective clients reach out to their insurance and confirm they will provide you assistance and what they require to do so.
